LAUTOKA emerged the most improved side in this year's Fiji National Netball Championship which ended at the National Netball Centre in Laucala Bay yesterday.
The Westerners, sponsored by Pacific Destination, scooped the under-21 and Major B grade titles and finished third in the Major A division.
In the under-21 final, Lautoka defeated Nasinu 29-25 before the side clinched the Major B grade beating Nasinu again 32-11.
Lautoka Netball Association president Joji Lagi said they were proud of the achievement.
He said the association set the target to perform better in this year's IDC in the beginning of the year and through hard work and dedication achieved its goal.
"It's a huge improvement and I want to thank the players for this achievement. They played well and deserved to win," Lagi said.
"These girls have the talent and the association worked out ways to best utilise them."
Lagi said one of the catalysts in this drastic improvement in the side was the competitive weekly league.
With next year's tournament being hosted by Lautoka, Lagi has laid the challenge to other districts and hopes his side takes it up a notch to make a clean sweep in 2014.
