Update: 10:20AM WITH about 20,000 people expected to visit Albert Park today, the police force has advised the operations team on the ground to expect mass crowd.
In a statement issued by police this morning, spokeswoman Ana Naisoro pleaded with members of the public to help the officers end the festivities on a high note.
"Till today no major incidents have been recorded at the grounds or in the Central Division however with thousands of people expected to converge in the Capital City, police have beefed up its operations in anticipation of the spillover of numbers expected from the other divisions," Ms Naisoro said in the statement.
"Parents and guardians are being urged to ensure their children are accounted for at all times as with the past trend, a large number of children were seen loitering in Suva following the festivities."
Last night there were more than 100 police officers on the ground monitoring and securing the festivities.
