LUTHER Solomone doesn't have to dig deep to find inspiration.
He gets that from his name.
Named after American activist Martin Luther King Jr, Solomone is determined to overcome the hurdles in life and achieve his dream.
The 21-year-old Suva resident is part of Team Fiji to the Pacific Mini Games where he will participate in para-sports events in Wallis and Futuna next month.
"My father was inspired by the achievements of Martin Luther King Jr and when I was born, he named me after him," the outspoken Solomone said.
"So my name itself is an inspiration to me. I read about Martin Luther King Jr for America with a lot of interest and it's an honour for me to be named after such a great man."
Solomone, who will be making his debut in the PMG, is hoping to stamp his mark in the regional event.
He will compete in the 100 metres event.
His personal best in the blue ribbon event stands at 14.75 seconds.
"I participated in a competition in Darwin so I have a bit of experience in international events. I'm hoping to do well and better my time at the PMG," Solomone, who was born with physical disability, said. "I'm thankful for this opportunity."
Alongside Solomone, Savaira Tuidama and Jone Bogidrau will be representing the country in para-sports.
The team is coached by Freddy Fatiaki, who guided Iliesa Delana to the historic gold medal win in the London Paralympics last year.
