Update: 1:19PM THE Fiji Times office, in Labasa, has been inundated with phone calls and emails from good Samaritans who are keen to assist the family of Surendra Prasad in Tiri, Wailevu.
People have called from around the world enquiring about bank
account details and ways of sending aid to the family.
Mr Prasad's family plight was published in this newspaper
earlier this week.
He has six children and lost one of them last week - a four-year-old
son who died after suffering from diarrhoea.
When the Fiji Times team visited this week, the financially stricken family had to share whatever little food they get and were using ply boards as their beds and pile of clothes as pillows.
