CHAMPIONS Drasa Secondary School has no time to celebrate as the Lautoka-based side shifts its focus on qualifying for the Fiji Football Association Inter District Championship.
Drasa Secondary scooped the under-19 grade title in the Tuckers Ice Cream Fiji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship in Labasa last weekend but is yet to qualify for the IDC which will be held in October.
The side with players such as Fiji U20 reps Tevita Koroi, Antonia Tuivuna, Setareki Delana and Leisari Qalica defeated Iosefo Verevou's Saraswati College 1-0 in the final at Subrail Park.
Joeli Nalavalava scored the winning goal for Drasa in the opening half.
The U15 grade was won by AD Patel while Kamil Muslim College won the U17 grade title.
Fiji Secondary Schools Soccer Association president Aminesh Ram said Drasa Secondary needed to win its zonal play-off in order to play in the IDC.
So far, he said, Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa from the North and Saraswati College from the South have booked their places.
Ram said a team each from the eastern and western zones were to qualify.
"In the western zone which includes schools from Sigatoka to Lautoka, there will be strong battle between Nadi College, Drasa Secondary and Tilak High," he said.
"In the eastern zone the battle will be between Nukuloa College and Tavua College."
Ram said the zonal play-offs would start when the term three of school resumes in two week's time.
"We are pleased with the competition level and the organisation of the Tuckers Ice Cream Fiji Secondary Schools Soccer Championship and we are hoping for interesting games in the upcoming IDC."
