TOP seed Sara Tomic was bundled out of the International Tennis Federation Oceania Closed Junior Championship girls singles competition yesterday.
The Australian who is ranked 55 in the International Tennis Federation junior rankings lost to Zoe Hives 6-3, 4-6, 5-7 at the Construction Hire and Equipment Limited regional courts in Lautoka.
Hives will play Kimberly Birrell, who recorded an impressive win over Naiktha Bains 7-6, 6-4, in the semi-final today.
Fiji's Anne Shannon who was to play Chloe Hule of Australia pulled out after sustaining a back injury.
Shannon started well on the opening day of the tournament but was unfortunate yesterday.
Hule will play Anja Dokic in the other semis.
Fiji Tennis Association secretary John Shannon said some impressive performances were recorded yesterday.
He said there were few upsets in the girls' singles grade while in the boys division, top seeds maintained their dominance and have qualified for the semi-finals.
The boys and girls doubles semi-finals will also be played later today.
