THE winner of the Togovere Rugby Youth Investment 7s which starts in Ra today will walk away $3000 richer.
The two-day tournament will be held at the Liwativale Primary School ground.
Tournament organiser Jo Koroitabuna said their youth group was registered with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
He said their main aim was to develop the youths in the Ra region.
"This is the first time that we are organising the tournament," Koroitabuna said.
"We are targeting a total of 40 teams. The winner will get $3000 while the runner-up will receive $1000.
"Local clubs from Saivou and Nalawa will pose a threat to the big clubs like Red Rock and Police from Suva.
"We hope to make this tournament an annual event. It is all about the development of the sport.
"The tournament will be held at Liwativale which is the home of former Fiji 7s rep Sireli Bobo.
"Some other top players from the province like Neori Senivau, Semi Koroi and Sitiveni Waqa have also made a name for themselves in the abbreviated code."
A netball competition will coincide with the 7s tournament.
