IN line with this year's Youth Day celebrations theme, Youth — Energy of the Nation, about 60 young men and women of various youth groups in Lautoka will gather at the Namoli Village foreshore and Sunshine Special School for activities that will allow them to serve their community.
Divisional youth officer Valami Nima said the initiative was for young people to understand they could contribute positively to their communities with their energy and wisdom.
"This program is the build-up to our Youth Day celebrations and is an initiative of the Lautoka District Youth Council," Mr Nima said.
"We will be at Namoli Village to help plant mangroves and some youths will help clean up Sunshine Special School and plant vegetables in the school garden.
"This isn't the only thing we have organised because youths will also have a blood drive on Thursday before the main celebrations on Friday where the Minister of Youth and Sports, Commander Viliame Naupoto, will be chief guest," Mr Nima added.
