ELEVEN-year-old Unaisi Naikele of Solodamu in Tavuki on Kadavu was a proud Girl Guide as she joined 499 students across the country in Labasa for their national annual three-day camp.
The Class Six student said the trip was her first to the North.
Unaisi described her first camp out as a relief and a change from her normal routine back in Solodamu.
"I made new friends and I just can't wait for the camping activities to start," she said.
"This is also a chance for me and other Guides from our school to share with our friends what we have learnt in our own schools.
"I belong to the Uci group and my companions from Kadavu have been divided into another four groups which have been named after native flowers such as lagakali, mokosoi, tagimoucia and yasi."
Unaisi said even though Labasa was experiencing bad weather she was enjoying her stay.
She is accompanied by 33 students from six primary schools from Kadavu.
Kadavu Girl Guide team leader Camari Waqa said the entourage included nine parents.
