FIJIAN troops on peacekeeping mission at the Golan Heights are supposed to be self-sustained in terms of internet connectivity.
Andre-Michel Essoungou, officer-in-charge of public affairs with the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support, said the mission was only responsible for other communication, including telephone.
"In general, contingents can use telephones using personal pins or calling cards," Mr Essoungou said.
He said the troop would contribute to UNDOF's efforts in maintaining the ceasefire between Israel and Syria as prescribed by the 1974 Agreement of Disengagement between the two forces.
A total of 488 Fijian troops are at the Golan Heights comprising a Northern Infantry Battalion, Transport Platoon and Force Headquarters Company.
