ELIZABETH Sophia Lakalaka Rawalui will use the upcoming Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North as a platform to spread the gospel of healthy living.
The 20-year-old beauty from Tubou, Lakeba in Lau is among eight queen contestants participating in the week-long fete that starts in Labasa this weekend.
Representing the Labasa Town Council, Ms Rawalui said she would mainly focus on informing people of the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
"I will be advocating on the fight against developing cardiovascular diseases because most people nowadays are dying at a very young age as a result of such diseases," the University of the South Pacific student said.
"Health officials are doing everything they can to inform people about the life-threatening disease but it seems like people are not taking such information seriously.
"Avoiding such diseases starts at home with our diet and lifestyle.
"If we make a habit of eating healthy and fresh foods, and exercise daily, I am sure that we will all have a healthy and cheerful life," she said.
Describing herself as beautiful, intelligent and sophisticated, Ms Rawalui said the onus was on every individual to take the first step and make a change."
