A record number of students will participate in the Fiji Primary Schools Netball Championship which starts at the multipurpose courts in Lautoka this morning.
Tournament co-ordinator Moape Vu said 26 district and provincial teams would be represented.
He said this was more than double the number from last year.
"We are expecting more than 2000 students to participate in the two-day event," Vu said.
"There is a big increase in the numbers from last year in Suva where we only had 12 district and provincial representatives. The matches will be played in the under-9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 grades.
"There will be a march at 7.30am through the city followed by the official opening.
"Macuata, Cakaudrove and Bua will participate from the Northern Division. Suva and Nasinu are the Southern giants."
Matches start at 9am.
