THE Ba Football Association will hold a private celebration for players and their family members this Saturday for winning the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants title back to back on Sunday.
The 4R Electrical Ba team came from behind to beat the Design Engineering Lautoka side 3-1 in the final at Govind Park.
This was Ba's first tournament win on home soil since 2007.
Ba team manager Arvind Singh said the move by the Fiji Football Association to ban foreign passport holders to play soccer in the country was a positive one.
He said Ba had once again proven that teams could win tournaments with the home-grown talent.
"Bringing in overseas players for the local competitions is a waste of money," Singh said.
"That money should be diverted towards development. We are proud of our local boys. They were outstanding.
"To come back from a goal down against a fancied Lautoka team is a great achievement.
"We won the National Football League title and now the BOG.
"The new league season will kick off next month.
"Then the Inter District Competition is on in October. Following that will be the Pacific Cup in New Zealand in November. So there isn't much time to rest.
"We haven't discussed about the distribution of prizemoney won during the BOG yet. However the boys were given a small party after the win.
"There will be a function to mark the victory with the players and their family members this Saturday."
The Ba team walked away with $11,000.
