THE FIFA Goal Project in Suva is likely to be opened in October. Work at the new facility has been affected by the rains. The ground development work, which was supposed to take two months to complete, has taken nearly seven months.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said the Goal Project handing over was scheduled for September.
"We plan to open the facility during our platinum jubilee celebrations in October," Patel said.
The Goal Project has been fully funded by the world governing body FIFA with the sum of more than $940,000 for the improvement of the football in the country.
This will be the second field for the Vatuwaqa-based academy after the construction of the Futsal court at the same venue.
