Macuata rugby coach Peni Baba has blamed communication breakdown within the ranks of the team management as the leading cause to their non-performance during the Digicel Cup.
The side finished the 2013 season with the wooden spoon and will play in the promotion-relegation series against the B Division champions.
Baba said club competitions in the province only started during the fifth round of the Digicel Cup competition.
Baba said this had affected players' physical development when the rest of the teams were into the fifth round of the competition.
"We blame ourselves for the breakdown in communication and we look forward to doing better in our approach next season," he said.
"If we need to move up into the top tier of the provincial level competition than I believe that we need to straighten things out and get the flow of competitions going so that we can be up to par with the rest of the provincial teams.
"We have also noticed that support from the provincial level is weak and we call on the Macuata province to hop on board and support the team."
Baba also called on people in the Cakaudrove and Bua provinces to support the Macuata team since they were the only Northern side participating in the Digicel Cup competition.
