CUVU College of Sigatoka took out top honours in the Nadroga Navosa chef challenge held at the Sigatoka Andhra Sangam College on Friday.
Organised by the Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji and attended by 92 students, the school scooped the most prizes to stamp their mark in the new competition.
Resort chef and Fiji Chefs Association president Shailesh Naidu said the competition allowed participants to produce various culinary delights while competing for the top prize.
"After a successful competition last year other schools were very interested in taking part in the challenge this year and we are absolutely pleased with the response from the schools in Nadroga and Navosa," he said.
"The cooking talents of our young chefs are amazing, their dishes were good enough to be served at fine dining restaurants and the menus they came up with using local food and vegetables were very admirable and futuristic."
He said competitors prepared dishes from five categories including egg, chicken, seafood, vegetarian and cake decorations.
Ram Sami and Sons, Bakels, Crest Chicken, Coral Coast Fruits and Vegetables and Danny's sponsored the various categories.
