MANIAVA settlers in Ra want to lease the 1000 acres of land given to them by landowners at Nayaulevu in Ra.
According to Peni Waqamaira, even though they were grateful to be given a land to live, settlers were still concerned with their safety.
He said they wanted to lease the land so the safety and security of their future generations would be safeguarded.
"We are grateful to our kind landowners for granting us 1000 acres of land to build our village and farms," he said.
"On the other hand we have to think about our security because we don't know what the future holds.
"For the past years we have been working hard to lease this land because we are willing to repay the landowners for their generosity through payment of lease for the use of the land."
Mr Waqamaira said settlers had met occasionally to discuss the issue of their security.
