ABOUT 200 family members, classmates and sympathisers gathered at FNU's Derrick Campus to remember the life of Collin Maepara.
Mr Maepara, 29, from the Solomon Islands, died on Sunday, August 10, after an incident outside a nightclub in Suva.
The Solomon islander had been studying architectural engineering at FNU, since 2007.
He left behind his Fijian wife, Mere Salele Maepara and two daughters.
Mr Maepara's father-in-law Josateki Ledua described him as "humble, quiet, and full of caring".
"We will be left behind with sad memories, as a part of our family will be taken with you."
His close friend and president of the Solomon Islands Student Association, Andrew Dakamae said Mr Maepara was a man of determination and perseverance.
He described Mr Maepara as a mentor for the Solomon Islands students.
"If approached for assistance on the due time of his assignments, Collin would always give you every time that permits and leave his work for you," he said.
Mr Maepara's body was repatriated to the Solomon Islands on Thursday.
