RATU Navula College in Nadi is already in party mode after being crowned secondary schools netball champs yesterday — and expectations are high there will be a double celebration when the dust settles after the Deans rugby finasl in Suva today.
Spurred on by a vocal Nadi crowd, a determined team spirited on despite being behind during the first quarter of the match.
Ultimately, the school emerged victors beating Ratu Sukuna Memorial School 11-9.
Coach Josua Qalo was in tears after the win and said the win was a good omen for the school as their U18 ruggers prepare to take on Queen Victoria School today at the National Stadium.
"This is actually the second year for Ratu Navula to win the U19 title," he said.
"This win is very important for us and I am extremely proud of the girls.
"Our training had been very good over the past few weeks and this is a very good result for us."
The finals of the tournament were dominated by Western schools.
In the U17 grade, Natabua High beat Vatukaloko Secondary 12-10 while in the U15 Grade, Natabua High beat Swami Vivekananda 19-10.
