JOHN Wesley College stamped its dominance in the Suva Secondary School Volleyball competition winning two titles yesterday.
The Raiwaqa-based school scooped the girl's under-15 and U17 grades during the finals at the FMF Gymnasium.
Coached by former national volleyball rep Waisale Suka, JWC overcame St Joseph's Secondary School 2-0 in the U15 and U17 finals.
In the boy's U15, JWC was unfortunate losing to Marist Brothers High School by two straight sets. It was down to the wire in the U17 clash, where MBHS and JWC again battled for supremacy.
The powerful spikes from the JWC attackers was contained by a calm and confident MBHS side. JWC won the opening set.
However, the boys from Flagstaff kept their composure and slowly crept back into the game to win the second and final set.
In the U20 boys' grade, Suva Grammar School beat MBHS 2-0.
SSSV president Eroni Matatia was pleased with the performance of the finals.
"The competition has gone up to another level," Matatia said.
"The U20 final between Grammar and Marist was so exciting. We hope to further lift the competition to another level next year."
He thanked their sponsor, Sports World for sponsoring trophies for the final.
