A NAVOSA chief and a villager were found dead at the Waibasaga Hotwater site on Thursday afternoon.
Ratu Kaminieli Burogolevu, 77, of Nawairabe Village and Eremasi Mataitoga, 77, of Wowosi Village were spotted by fellow villagers floating in the hotspring.
Agricultural officer at the Vatumali government station Akuila Kurikoto said the two elderly men resided at Keiyasi. He said the deceased were believed to have died from the hot water.
"They were having a bath at the hot water spring in broad daylight and I believe their body could not take the heat," said Mr Kurikoto.
"The Navosa police was alerted before the bodies were removed from the site."
The Fiji Times contacted the Navosa Police Station which confirmed the death.
"We have received the report and had removed the body from the site," officer Jay Singh said.
