SARASWATI College started their Tuckers Ice Cream Fiji Football Secondary Schools Inter-district Championship campaign on a high.
The side hammered Sigatoka Methodist High School 7-0 in its second match at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.
Saraswati College wasted no time as they drew first blood through a score from Bruce Hughes during the first five minutes of the first half.
The side finished the first half on a high note leading SMHS 4-0 from goals bagged by Hughes, Savenaca Nakalevu, Nickel Chand and Iosefo Verevou.
The under-19 side from Nausori managed to add another three goals during the second half from Nakalevu, Verevou and Akash Singh.
The Nathan Shivam-coached side, which has services of Rewa reps in Verevou, Nakalevu and Setareki Hughes, earlier defeated Kamil College 3-1.
The three-day tournament will see 28 teams converge at Subrail Park for a show of secondary school soccer competition.
Top teams in the secondary soccer circles who will be part of the tournament include western schools such as Nukuloa College from Ba, Nadi College, Tilak High School, Saraswati College and Drasa Secondary School.
Fiji Secondary Schools Soccer vice president and tournament organiser Vinay Singh said that the game was a big opportunity for Northern secondary schools to expose their soccer stars.
