THE continuing housing rehabilitation works in the Northern Division costs government about $2.3million.
Acting commissioner Northern Alipate Bolalevu yesterday said such works were carried out on houses that were destroyed or partly damaged by Tropical Cyclone Evan last year.
He said a team of military engineers had been tasked to carry out the rehabilitation process.
Mr Bolalevu said the engineers would soon be deployed to the island of Rabi for such works.
"The team will also carry out similar works on Taveuni and Kioa," he said.
"The engineers will first complete the rehabilitation on the mainland before moving out to these islands sometime soon.
"About $2.3million have been allocated for such works throughout the Northern Division."
Meanwhile, Mr Bolalevu said a bio-fuel project was commissioned on Rabi Island on Wednesday.
He said the project was commissioned by the Minister for Transport Colonel Timoci Natuva.
