AGRICULTURE needs to be introduced in the primary school curriculum, says principal agricultural officer North John Cox.
Mr Cox said students needed to be taught the importance of the sector a.
He said little was done to make students aware of the potential in the agricultural sector.
"If you ask any student in Fiji what they want to become, they will always state that they will want to do a white-collared job like being a teacher, dentist doctor or something else," he said.
"Hardly ever will you hear any student say that he wants to be a farmer ."
Ministry of Education permanent secretary Doctor Brij Lal said agriculture was part of the primary and secondary education curriculum.
