Test for officers

Thursday, May 23, 2013

BEING prepared and well equipped during emergencies was the main focus behind the Fiji Police Force Special Response Unit mock exercise at Nausori Town yesterday.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the mock exercise operation was to test 30 of its police officers from the special response unit on their time response during emergencies.

Ms Naisoro said the exercise also tested the officers level of disaster preparedness as well as their level of skill and knowledge in times of a natural disaster or emergency.

Roadblocks were conducted at certain locations during the exercise.

Police Special Response Unit manager tactical operation ASP Sainivalati Makutu said the mock exercise was simply to test their preparedness and how well they could control situations in case of an uncertain event.

ASP Makutu said they wanted to know how capable they were in terms of timing, preparedness and fitness in any disturbance caused in the country.
