AN Air Pacific B737 aircraft suffered minor mechanical difficulties while at Auckland International Airport yesterday.

Air Pacific spokesman Shane Hussein confirmed the plane had to stay longer than its scheduled time before heading back to Fiji.

Mr Hussein said the flight was delayed by 90 minutes because of a minor mechanical issue which was rectified.

Meanwhile, the airline is gearing up for its Airbus' first commercial flight to Auckland on Tuesday.

The flight will depart Nadi International Airport at 8.45am and is expected to arrive in Auckland at 12.45pm where an official welcoming ceremony will be conducted by the airport staff.

AIAL chief executive officer Adrian Littlewood will officially welcome Air Pacific's first group of passengers to Auckland.
