Update: 8:39AM INSPIRED by Waisale Serevi, Fiji trounced Canada 26-5 heading into the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Sevens.

Tries to Jasa Veremalua, Samisoni Viriviri, Ilai Tinai and Uluiyasi Lawavonu repulsed the nuggety Canadians 26-5 in their pool game.

Digicel Fiji coach Alivereti Dere said they had to work harder in the quarter-final against Australia today.

"It is good we won against Canada but we need to work harder," Dere said.

"The boys have been motivated by the presence of Waisale Serevi and we are taking things one at a time. Our first game we started on a low note.

"Our defence it is a bit organised but we need to tighten it up again.

"We will go back to camp and talk about our game. For this game against Canada, we want to set the platform for the quarter-final."

Samoa faces New Zealand, Portugal takes on Kenya and Canada meets Wales in the other quarter-finals.
