NASINU defended the FBC Suva Volleyball Association (SVA) Inter District Competition super premier title at the FMF Gymnasium in Laucala yesterday.
Nasinu One, with a host of Marist and Cakau players, defeated Nasinu Two in the final by two straight sets to walk away with the $600 prizemoney.
Nasinu Two, which had players from Cakau team as well, settled for $300.
In the premier grade, Suva Ten overcame Nasinu Nine by 2-0 to be crowned the new winners.
Chips from USP featured as Suva Ten which won $300 while D Brothers from Kinoya played as Nasinu Nine and settled for $150.
In the women's grade, Nasinu One retained its title after beating Suva One by 2-1 to claim the $300 prize purse.
Nasinu One and Suva One had majority of players from the Suva Bluez and the Suva Black team playing.
SVA technical advisor Iliesa Raketekete said the tournament was a perfect build-up for the Easter Championship next weekend.
He said it gave players opportunity to sharpen their combination ahead of the prized national event.
"It was a successful tournament considering the turnout. Although the season is almost over we are impressed with the interest shown by the volleyball lovers," Raketekete said.
"We will start our 2013/14 season in September."
Brewers and Dolphins from Vatuwaqa, Rockets from Kinoya, Chips from USP and also the champion Raiwai Rebels outfit playing as the Jammers were outside teams competing at this tournament.
The Easter Championship will be held in Suva.
