Fiji makes changes

CHANGES are expected to be made to the starting line up when Kappa Fiji takes on New Caledonia in their second match during the Oceania Football Confederation Under-20 playoffs in Lautoka.

Fiji lacked finishing against Vanuatu in the opening spell on Thursday

Nadi strike ace Rusaite Matarerega, who came on as a substitute in the 48th minute, jelled well with his fellow district rep Napolioni Qasevakatini.

Their combination proved to be vital in Fiji's fightback to claim a 3-2 win.

Fiji Football Association vice president Tarunesh Reddy said the make-up of the team for the next game would be seriously looked at.

He said they needed to field players who were in form with good understanding.

"Certainly Qasevakatini and Matarerega have been playing well for Nadi this season," Reddy said.

"Amongst them they have scored six goals for the district in the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League."

"They showed their understanding against Vanuatu in the second half. There are a few other areas of concern that we will need to address. We allowed the Vanuatu players to penetrate our defence many times."

A cloud of doubt surrounds the availability of Ratu Nakalevu, Sakaraia Naisua and Vineel Naidu who sustained injuries in the first match.

Fiji will take on New Caledonia at 4.30pm today.
