FOR the first time ever, water is being listed in the top five global risks issues being discussed around the world.
Water Authority of Fiji chief executive officer Opetaia Ravai said in terms of global risks, for the first time ever, water was listed in the top five and it was on all agendas being discussed at the United Nations level, regional and Fiji level. Mr Ravai said water was in the top five list because it was a resource that was under stress right now because of the growing populations and rural to urban drift.
"Everybody has to work together in collaboration and make sure that we use this resource well," Mr Ravai said.
"We have a lot of NGOs out there that are helping us in creating awareness in water management issues like Live and Learn and SOPAC."
