THE Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment is taking a proactive role towards helping eradicate HIV/AIDS the best way it can.
Permanent secretary Taito Waqa said the ministry was taking a holistic approach.
"We are entering offices and promoting more awareness on the issue such as safe sex, healthy living but we are still looking to do more," he said.
Mr Waqa said people should follow what those in the occupational health and safety field use in daily evaluations since HIV/ AIDS was also considered occupational health.
"The hierarchy of control is the strategy that would work best and should be used. It involves eliminating the source which is abstinence, isolation which is getting treatment, technological which is minimising exposure to the mainstream workforce, administrative, then the last resort, personal protection equipment which is condoms," he said.
