THE MHCC Fiji Fashion Week will conduct workshops throughout the year in an attempt to provide better understanding of the fashion industry.
The training and development workshops are expected to highlight the quality of Fiji's garments, particularly to the international market.
"This is unlike previous years because we've decided to give extra training and development initiatives for designers so that we showcase the real quality of our industry," said MHCC FJFW's communications officer Lice Rova.
Mrs Rova said the organisation had already secured international buyers from Australia for the fashion show, which was set to begin in October.
"We have already had one webinar this year and that was such a success that the Fiji Fashion Council has agreed to fund the other workshops for the designers.
"This is so good for the designers because it gives them a better idea of management skills and the requirements the fashion industry demands," she said.
The next workshop is expected to commence in June once designers have been selected.
This workshop is aimed at the more technical side of fashion, Mrs Rova revealed.
