Update: 4:09PM THE Land Transport Authority will now impose hefty fines on motorists caught speeding and crossing red lights in the country.
LTA chief executive officer Naisa Tuinaceva confirmed the authority had received the patent certificate for the speed and red light cameras which means offenders can now be fined under the law.
Mr Tuinaceva said the cameras had gone live and motorists captured breaking the laws would be liable to pay fines ranging from $50 to $200.
"The speed cameras are mobile so they will be moved around the country while the red light cameras have been placed in Samabula and Nabua," he said.
Mr Tuinaceva called on motorists to follow the road rules.
