THE organisers of the Hong Kong 7s tournament are planning to build a bigger stadium to cater for the increasing demand of spectators at the 38-year-old tournament. Hong Kong Stadium has 40,000 seats.

This weekend, Hong Kong hosts the largest ever number of teams.

Tournament organiser Sean Moore said plans have started to build a bigger stadium.

"We have asked the government to assist us in finding a suitable place to build a bigger stadium. You know the increase in demand of spectators every year is a challenge to us. This tournament is growing every year and we are trying our best to keep up the tempo to meet the demands," he said.

"It is a challenge for us to maintain the tempo. We are feeling the pressure from other tournaments and we need to keep ahead of them."
