FORMER Fiji sevens speedster Tomasi Cama says his passion for rugby and pride for the nation motivated him to assist the Digicel Fiji sevens side ahead of the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong 7s tournament today.
Cama joined the team as trainer and hopes to inspire the players by sharing his experiences at Happy Valley. While the perks were not on his agenda, the famous galloping winger said his love for rugby and Fiji urged him to assist Alifereti Dere.
As nine players make their Hong Kong tournament debut today, Cama believes the players need to be mentally challenged and encouraged.
"I came here just to for the love of the sport and the pride for my country. I came here to share my experience with the players because I know that most of them are new to Hong Kong," he said.
"I understand the trainer was not able to come because of financial difficulties so I came in to fill in the gap.
"I know Dere cannot work alone so I decided to come and I am thankful that they have accepted me. Last year I was also with the team and I want to come again and help."
Cama, Dere and Waisale Serevi were part of the Fiji team that won the Hong Kong 7s title in 1990 and 1991.
