THE Water Authority of Fiji is investigating 80 cases of illegal connections to its water reticulation system with five already before the court.
Authority chief executive officer Opetaia Ravai said their investigations also revealed that some prominent commercial companies were involved in the illegal use of water.
Mr Ravai said the cases of illegal connections were not only centred in the Western Division but in other parts of the country as well.
"The cases we have good evidences of are the ones we will take to court. We prepare our cases well," he said.
Mr Ravai said they lost a substantial portion of the revenue through illegal connections.
