RAKIRAKI Town interim special administrator Seini Raiko believes the visit by the United Nations Development Programme's deputy assistant administrator and deputy regional director regional bureau for Asia and the Pacific, Nicholas Rosellini, was indicative of UNDP's confidence in the town.

During the visit yesterday, Ms Raiko expressed gratitude that Mr Rosellini was able to visit Rakiraki.

Piloting projects funded by the UNDP, Rakiraki Town has been put on the world map as the first town in the Pacific to start a Millennium Market Project that has resulted in female vendors acquiring business skills.

It resulted in the construction of a boarding house strictly for women vendors.

"It's an indication of the global interest that has been generated because of the many projects that they have piloted in Rakiraki," said Ms Raiko.
