Update: 7:23PM THE draft constitution released today by the government states that the size of Parliament shall be 45 with a four-year term.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said the idea was to attract good quality and honest parliamentarians who "will be paid accordingly and who wont be corrupt".
He said the draft constitution "gives sovereign control to a single house in Parliament, which is represented by members elected by you".
Cmdr Bainimarama said another key component of the draft constitution was that "for the first time in our history, it gives you the right to change the constitution once implemented via a referendum".
