A FORMER police officer who allegedly raped his daughter early this year appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday.
He appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza on a count of rape.
The man allegedly raped his daughter between January 1 and March 15 this year.
The former policeman, who said he understood the charge, informed the court he wished to seek the assistance of a Legal Aid lawyer.
Police prosecutor Constable Elina Lotudina said she had served full disclosures but would need more time to make amendments.
She then made an application for the accused to be remanded because of the seriousness of the offence.
The case has been adjourned to March 28 when the accused is expected to be served with full disclosures before the case is transferred to the High Court on April 5.
Ms Hamza advised the accused he could seek bail from the High Court.
The accused has been remanded in custody.
