THE Northern Crime Prevention Committee will work closely with the community and police in contributing actively to the fight against crime in the North.

Board chairman Satish Kumar said the funds raised in last year's crime prevention carnival would be used for community-based projects.

The committee raised a total of $25,685.40 during the three-day carnival at Subrail Park in Labasa.

Mr Kumar said the committee had managed to pay expenses of $17,659.49 and would ensure that the remaining balance was used effectively for youth groups and other community based projects.
