Update: 5:14PM FORMER Fiji coach Etuate Waqa and his Tongan warriors gave the Fiji 7s team a try-out in So Kon Po today.
His Tongan side, which arrived in the bustle of this tiny island city of millions on Sunday, put the Fijians to the test in a friendly at the Happy Valley racecourse before the Fijians retreated to a gym session.
The Fiji team has been boosted with the presence of sevens wizard Waisale Serevi and Tomasi Cama, who remain star attractions here with their exploits of the 1990s.
Waqa, who took Fiji to win the inaugural Gold Coast Sevens in 2011 and joined the Tongan camp on a lucrative offer last year, has been inspiring his young brigade with past examples of the Fijians and the Bible.
Yesterday, he posted the message from Psalm 27-3 that he shared with his players on his Facebook page
"Though an army may encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war may rise against me, in this I will be confident."
The Fijians have also been having their daily devotions to prepare themselves spiritually, mentally and physically for what has been dubbed as the greatest rugby tournament on this planet.
Fiji plays Hong Kong in their opening match on Friday.
