FORMER Fiji Sevens stars Tomasi Cama Senior and Waisale Serevi have joined the Digicel Fiji 7s camp to help the national side in its quest to retain the Hong Kong 7s title this weekend.
Former national 7s skipper and coach Cama Sr has been roped in as the team trainer while 7s maestro Serevi yesterday assisted the players during their first training session since arriving in Hong Kong.
Head coach Alifereti Dere told Times Sport their presence boosted the morale of the players who were in their final stage of preparation for the biggest tournament in the HSBC IRB Sevens World Series.
"Tomasi has joined us as a trainer just like last year. Serevi is on a promotional tour and he joined the boys during the training in the afternoon," Dere said.
"The presence of these two former Fiji stars is a big morale booster for the players as they look forward to the tournament this weekend."
Dere said the players had settled in well and fully recovered following the long and tiring flight from Nadi. He said they had a good half day rest to recover from jetlag.
The Nemani Nagusa-skippered national side had a pool session early yesterday before an afternoon session at the La Salle College ground in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
Dere continued his focus on combination building while Cama Sr and Serevi guided the boys during the light training session.
Fiji will take on Hong Kong in Pool D match at 9.06pm on Friday.
The second pool match is against Spain at 2.06pm on Saturday followed by the final pool match at 10.54pm against Canada.
