THE country's first brand new Airbus A330 will create more employment and bring more visitors to Fiji, says outgoing Air Pacific chief executive officer and managing director David Pflieger.

Mr Pflieger said the A330 aircraft would benefit not only Air Pacific but also the nation.

"It is the first wide body, double aisle aircraft ever purchased by your national carrier. These planes and other investments we have made represent an investment of almost one billion dollars in Fiji's national airline, its critical tourism industry and Fiji's national economy.

"It is the first plane ever designed and built from the ground up to expressively represents Fiji and the Fijian people," said Mr Pflieger.

He said because of Fiji's national carrier's success, it would grow and create many more jobs and bring Fiji many more visitors and carry even more exports.

"And in doing so, your national airline will help grow and strengthen Fiji's economy and the quality of life of all Fijians."
