BOXING enthusiast and Casablanca Hotel owner Mustapha Khattab has called on all stakeholders to work together in a bid to lift the sport of boxing to another level.
After watching the Naidiri Boxing Promotions program in Nadi last Saturday, Khattab said the standard of boxing in the country had dropped.
He classed the heavyweight bout between Napoleon Taumoepeau and Alipate Nagata as one of the worst shows in recent years.
Khattab said Alipte just danced around to the cheer of the crowd before being dropped to the canvas after a couple of blows in the first round.
"Alipate just did not display any heart," Khattab.
"That is not what Fijian boxers are renowned for. Simply he was unfit."
"The standard of boxing in the country has dropped. All the stakeholders need to get together and start a development program. We have to start from scratch."
