Teams arrive for Hong Kong battle

IT WAS another busy day of community activity from the national teams who have arrived early for this weekend's Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens.

The Russian squad started the morning helping present prizes to the HKFC youth section, then played touch games with youngsters from Operation Breakthrough at the Police Club in the afternoon.

Meanwhile the Canadian side was attending the annual welcome function at the Canadian International School, and Scotland travelled north for a coaching session and lunch with the Flying Kukris youth club at Hong Lok Yuen school pitch.

The generosity of the Sevens teams spending time with Hong Kong's local clubs and schools is something greatly appreciated by the whole rugby community, and provides a huge annual boost for the Union's efforts to develop and grow the game. There are further visits in the days to come, including Scotland at Sarah Roe Jockey Club School, USA at HKIS, Australia at AIS and Fiji at La Salle College.
