RAKIRAKI police officers are on the hunt for a 31-year-old unemployed villager who allegedly fled the scene of an accident that has left one person hospitalised.
Police media liaison officer West Naina Ragigia said officers from Rakiraki were searching for Epeli Dawai. Dawai is alleged to have lost control of the vehicle he was driving resulting in three passengers being rushed to the Rakiraki Hospital.
"We have reliable information that the accused was returning from Rakiraki Town after buying beer around 3.30am on Sunday morning. While driving a taxi with the registration number LT 5307, Dawai lost control while dodging potholes in front of Rakiraki Public School which resulted in the crash. The three passengers were rushed to the Rakiraki Hospital. Two were released after observation and the third Inoke Caucau remains admitted. The driver fled the scene and officers are currently searching for him," she said.
