FIJIAN winger Marika Koroibete's try in the 69th minute was the icing on the cake for the Wests Tigers in their 28-18 win over Penrith Panthers yesterday.

His performance in the round two National Rugby League (NRL) match was huge turnaround from his dismal outing in their 10-42 loss to New Castle Knights in round one last week.

Koroibete's speed off the mark enabled him to make numerous breaks which eventual led to one of Tigers five tries in the match.

The Panthers, which had the services of former Fiji Bati captain Wes Naiqama, failed to find the form that allowed them to win 32-10 over Canberra Raiders in round one last week.

In another match, Akuila Uate, who scored a hat trick against the Tigers last week, never stood a chance against the Manly Sea Eagles last night.

His Knights side was convincingly thrashed 32-0 by the Eagles in a one-sides affair.
