THE Fiji Women's Rugby Union has recorded a large increase in the number of players that are representing respective clubs.

Union president Paulini Tamatasasa said they started their fortnightly competition early in January.

She said since then, they have seen new girls playing in every round.

"Every club has been coming with new players," Tamatasasa said.

"Most of the girls are still young and are either high school leavers or tertiary students," she said.

She added a new team was in the process of joining the competition.

"Women's rugby is growing fast now and this was evident when another club was formed recently.

"A new club is about to join us and this will spice up the competition.

"The success of the Fijiana side in recent overseas event and their inclusion in the Women's Sevens World Series seems to have caught the attention of women in the country," Tamatasasa said.
