YOUTHS from around Nasinu have been encouraged to become self reliant and resourceful at this stage of their lives so they can become successful in the future.

More than 50 youths attended the Wakanisila Seeds of Success Youth Empowerment program workshop in Wakanisila last week.

Youth officer Devina Devi said the youths got a chance to learn about appreciating themselves more first and being confident.

"A lot of these youths tend to put other people first which has caused a lot of youths to drift away from their dreams and goals in life," she said.

"The Seeds of Success workshop empowers youths to set their goals and to achieve it."

Seeds of Success participant Naomi Senivuga said she had learnt about self-discipline, the economy, her financial and social status during the workshop.

Ms Senivuga said being part of the workshop had taught her to build a strong foundation because having a strong foundation meant having a stable future.

"We have learnt to always be positive about issues we face in life and to always realise that there are solutions to any type of problem we may face," she said.

Nasinu District Youth Council president Joseph Kaufuti said youths needed to attend workshops that would encourage and empower them to become successful in life.

Mr Kaufuti said youths always looked forward to being part of any empowerment workshop because they had goals they still wanted to achieve.

The youths were given certificates of completion by the Minister for Youth and Sports Commander Viliame Naupoto on Friday.
