FIJI's first-ever Islands in the World Oceania International Film Festival (IWOIFF) will be held at the University of the South Pacific (USP) Japan-Pacific ICT Centre in Suva next month.
French Embassy Counsellor for Co-operation and Culture Denis Decraene said the festival was expected to facilitate regional integration.
"I am impressed by the cinema industry here and you have a public that loves to go and watch movies as well which is a good thing," he said.
"This festival will let people around the region learn about other cultures as cinema is about money and culture but we are focusing on the culture aspect of it."
USP Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education Dr Akanisi Kedrayate said the IWOIFF would be an opportunity for the public to see Pacific films.
